Agadir Shore Excursion: Agadir and Markets Tour
The authentic Kasbah fortress built in 1572. Above the front door, the inscription in Arabic and Dutch “fear God and honor thy King”. After the earthquake, there is nothing left of the proud fortress, the restored wall, but remains exceptional panoramic views over the bay of Agadir and on ports. The hill bears the inscription in Arabic: “God, Country, King” who like the ramparts is illuminated at night.
Your tour will start with a port pick up before heading to the Berber promenade and the tourist sector. The beach area is reserved exclusively for tourism, greenery and flowers are abundant here, a beautiful alley in the seaside lined with restaurants cafes. This is the best place to walk. After, you will head to the fishing port named after the first sardine port in the world and the first fishing port in Morocco. You will visit the port of trawlers, sardine port, shipyard (building wooden boats), the fish market (the wholesale fish in the morning) and in the same area you will see the small motor boats, site maintenance, commercial port and restaurants. The fishermen behind the harbor will offer you the opportunity to taste several varieties of fresh fish and shellfish.After, you will climb the Kasbah (Agadir Oufella), a fortified village or a large fortified house on a hill. This ancient city has mysterious origins, built at the beginning of the XVI century by Portuguese (called santa cruz), this ancient kasbah is located on a hill at 236m above the sea. You have a beautiful panoramic view of the 9km beach and all of the white city. You will continue your tour to the oldest neighbourhood and the two large Mosques (visit & Photos from the outside). You will then visit the home of the Argan tree. Argan is a unique tree that grows anywhere in the world and in the region of Agadir , it became a protected species. Argan oil food is flavorful and twice as rich as olive oil with vitamin A and omega 3 & 6. Argan oil is also an excellent anti-wrinkle! After that you will visit the shops (at the your request). The craft complex (Morocco’s craft is rich and varied) factory, leather garment factory, slippers and the Berber souk. First however, you will visit the village of artisans, to admire and discover different types of craft work, then continue towards the old Medina (called Inezgane) that luckily was not affected by the earthquake in Agadir in 1960. Here you will find the small streets, traditional locals, vegetable hawkers, fruit and fish on carts. It is also the largest wholesale souk throughout the southern region!This is also where you can admire or buy multiple items from the Moroccan crafts (rich and varied),with a wide choice and a good price! Spices, dried fruits, traditional clothing, slippers, jewelry, and different product crafts . Your tour will be end with a drop off back at Agadir Port.
